SCHOOL OF ROCK
Based on the Paramount movie written by Mike White
Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Book by Julian Fellowes, Lyrics by Glenn
Slater
Rock got no reason, rock got no rhyme… You better get me to school on time! School of Rock is a two-hour, two-act musical based on the hit movie. The show follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn an extra bit of cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There, he turns a class of straight–A pupils into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. But can he get them to the Battle of the Bands without their parents and the school’s headmistress finding out?
The stage musical on Broadway and in the West End was produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber, who also composed 14 new songs for the show, which additionally features all of the original songs from the movie.
We will be performing School of Rock with live rock bands on stage and with an adult cast, supporting our youth members.
Echo Youth Theatre is looking for young performers and musicians to cast in the 15-strong “kids cast” for this show – we are looking for a cast who look and act like average 12-yr olds from a range of backgrounds and ethnicities. (Actual age can be from 9-14 years old).
Show Week will be Tue 6th Jun to Sun 11th Jun 23 and you need to be fully available (outside school hours) that week
An amateur/youth group production by arrangement with The Really Useful
Group Ltd.
