PRODUCTION DETAILS

Thank you for your interest in auditioning for Les Misérables – Let The People Sing: Norwich.

The show will be produced by the Norfolk & Norwich Operatic Society in collaboration with Threshold Theatre Company, Sound Ideas Theatre Company and Echo Youth Theatre.

Let The People Sing is a nationwide project which sees Cameron Mackintosh and Music Theatre International offering just 11 unique opportunities for amateur companies to produce their own versions of this iconic show as part of the show’s 40th Anniversary celebrations in 2025.

To be performed at

Norwich Theatre Royal

2nd – 6th July 2025

Echo Youth Theatre is looking for young performers aged 9 and over with a “playing age of 8-12” to audition for this show.

This means that auditionees must look 12 or under, but must be aged 9 or over as at 1st Feb 25.

There are 3 roles for children in the show:  Gavroche, Little Cosette, and Little Eponine.  We will be casting 6 children in two teams of 3, who will perform alternate shows.

Show Week will be Sun 29th Jun to Sun 6th Jul 25 and cast will need to be fully available for that period.

There is one mid-week matinee on Thu 3rd Jul, which will require the team of children performing that day to miss school and this will be part of the licence application that will be submitted once cast.

REHEARSAL DETAILS

Rehearsing at NNOS Rehearsal Rooms: The Chapel, Douro Pl, Norwich NR2 4BQ

Rehearsals will start Sun 2nd Mar 25.

Rehearsals will be mainly on  Sundays and Tuesday evenings, with occassional additional days – please make sure you have checked the draft schedule, which is available on the link below.

This is a draft outline schedule and and a detailed schedule will be provided following casting.  The children’s cast will not be required at all rehearsals, but we will be expecting good availability for all rehearsals, if required, particularly the Directors Blocking dates shown on the schedule.

During the audition process, you will be asked to let us know of any planned absences – please know your child’s commitments, so we can ensure they are going to be available when required.

We will try to accommodate absences that we know about in advance.  Auditionees with excessive absences or who are unavailable for key dates may not be cast, but please book an audition if your child is keen and discuss any issues you have with us.

Please be honest about any prior commitments.  Frequent, undeclared absences could result in being removed from the show during the rehearsal process.  If your child’s planned absences have been agreed upon by the team in advance and they are cast in the show, their absence will not be an issue.
