Jo Myers is one of the co-founders and Company Directors of Echo Youth Theatre. She is responsible for the organisation of the Company, compliance, funding and budgets, membership and general administration. Jo will also be assisting with productions as props maker, chaperone co-ordinator and general production assistant.
Jo has been involved backstage with theatre groups in Norwich for over 10 years. From starting out as a general helper with a youth theatre group, she developed a love of making props and is now makes props for shows by several theatre groups in Norwich and further afield.
Jo is passionate about the value of good quality youth theatre for young people; it is an essential training ground for those wishing to pursue a career in the performing arts. However, most importantly, the experiences and skills that young people learn will stay with them for life – team working, organisational skills, work-ethic, dealing with the unexpected, initiative, confidence and self-esteem are all life-skills that being involved with theatre brings, whether on stage or backstage.
Jo is the HR Systems Development Manager at Wymondham College.
Dan Rayner is co-founder and company director of Echo Youth Theatre. Dan is the Artistic Director and alongside directing at least one of the major productions each year, Dan is also responsible for overseeing the annual programme of shows, appointment of artistic staff, maintaining partnerships with external organisations and ensuring the wellbeing of the young people involved.
Having graduated with a Drama BA Honours in 2010, Dan went on to work professionally onstage and off both in the UK and abroad. His experience in theatre ranges from acting, directing and crewing, to designing and company management. For four years, he ran a theatre at a summer camp in America. Dan continues to work within theatre, delivering workshops and directing for various companies in Norfolk. His directing work has garnered him multiple awards.
Dan prides himself on producing creative and high-quality productions, which he is excited to be able to share with the young people of EYT. He is passionate about giving young people the opportunities to develop their talents and interests in all aspects of theatre and hopes to give those wishing to pursue a career in the arts the motivation, experience and training needed to succeed.
Dan is a teacher of drama and theatre studies, as well as an assistant head of year, at Hellesdon High School.
Cathy is Echo Youth Theatre’s Workshop and Social Co-ordinator, and is responsible for planning the social events and company workshops with internal and external partners. Cathy develops and maintains connections with industry professionals to ensure members are offered excellent opportunities, and to introduce new and exciting ideas to the company.
Having graduated with BA (Hons) in Drama and Literature and MSc Business Management, Cathy combines her love of the arts with her marketing and management skills in everyday life, working in Human Resources by day and rehearsing by night. Cathy’s passion lies in dancing, singing, and acting on stage, and she has performed with multiple theatre companies all over East Anglia.
Cathy’s recent credits include Dancer in Threshold Theatre Company’s Spamalot (2017), Diva in Dereham Theatre Company’s Priscilla Queen of the Desert (2017), and Dancer in Waveney Light Opera Group’s Hot Mikado (2017). In 2018, Cathy will be playing Isabella in Roughcast Theatre Company’s Measure for Measure touring theatres in Suffolk, and dancing in Stella’s School of Dance Show at Norwich Theatre Royal.
Cathy is determined to inspire young people both on and off-stage, and is proud to stand alongside the Echo Production Team to achieve this common goal.
One of the Echo co-founders, Dave has gained experience in recent years as a lighting and sound technician at the Madder Market theatre, working on 18 in house plays and over 60 external one night productions ranging from tribute bands, plays, musicals and stand up comedy. He has also stage managed Allo Allo, What the Butler Saw, Bronte, Beaux Stratagem and Cryano de Bergerac.
For many years Dave crewed for more than twenty of Norfolk Youth Music Theatre’s musicals and has taken TITLE OF SHOW to the Edinburgh Fringe as stage manager and Producer.
In addition to his work at the Madder Market he has crewed and stage-managed for Mixed Voice, I Love You Your Perfect, Now Change, Grease and their annual Christmas show; Sound Ideas, Threshold Theatre Company, the Great Hall theatre company and various schools in the area. In his spare time he sleeps!
Nina is a former broadcast journalist and radio news editor but has spent the majority of her career in media management and communications for a large public sector organisation.
Nina has been responsible for significant publicity campaigns, as well as having vast experience in media relations and crisis management.
As a child Nina appeared in many amateur dramatic productions and whilst she has not appeared on stage since she was in her late teens, Nina has always loved all aspects of theatre with a particular love for musicals.
Nina is passionate about helping provide opportunities for young people to develop their skills and confidence on stage, as well as nurture those who want to be involved in all aspects of theatre, from directing and production to set or costume design.
In the spare time she has, Nina can usually be found pounding the country lanes or adding to her medal collection. As a keen runner she has completed two London Marathons and a large number of other races across Norfolk and Suffolk.
And for those of you that are old enough to remember, you may have seen Nina on the odd afternoon in the late 90’s and early 00’s reading out birthday cards with BC the Bear on Anglia TV!
Jenni is the Graphic Designer for Echo Youth Theatre, she is responsible for the visual representation and corporate identity of the company, from flyers, posters to show programmes.
Jenni has been a part of amateur theatre for over 25 years, in her home town of Beccles and now also joining Norwich theatres in the last few years. In that time Jenni has appeared on stage and worked as part of the backstage crew, technical and front of house teams. Jenni was also the Chairman for her home group, Spotlight, in Beccles for 2 years. Over the last few years Jenni has moved from being on stage performing to directing both adult and youth theatre companies. She loves all aspects of theatre, but especially musical theatre.
Jenni has an HND in Graphic Design and earned her BA (HONS) in Humanities with Literature with the Open University. She has also studied musical performance, staging and directing at Summer School with NODA for the past 4 years.
Jenni currently works for a large company in Norwich designing regional and national magazines.
